You will learn how to:
- Identify your retirement strengths and weaknesses.

- Design your personal retirement options plan.
How you will benefit:
- You will thoughtfully decide when to retire.
- You will understand the major issues most people face before and after retiring and how they impact you.
- You will decide whether you want to continue to work or not—part or full time.
- You will learn how to structure your retirement.
- You will avoid costly retirement mistakes.
- You will explore what to do in your leisure time.
- You will clarify your retirement vision.
- You will retire with an explicit purpose and a doable action plan.
- You will work with your significant other and decide together on the best ways to secure meaning and fulfillment in your retirement life.
As part of the Retirement Strategies Coaching program, you will take a scientifically validated 120-item self-assessment tool, the Retirement Success Profile, (RSP), which gives you a detailed personal inventory of your strengths—your readiness to retire, as well as areas of weakness, which might need attention.
The RSP gives you information you can get nowhere else. It compares your scores with others in your position who have taken it, and it compares where you are today with your future expectations.
The RSP deals with 15 factors that have been identified to determine success in retirement. These include:
- The extent to which you derive personal identity from your work.
- Your idea of what your next life stage will be like—once you transition beyond your current job to a different career or something else.
- The extent of your self-reliance in making plans and decisions for your life.
- Your appraisal of your own health.
- Your appraisal of your planning for your financial security.
- Whether you have achieved serenity and fulfillment at this point in your life.
- Whether you’re looking forward to success, achievement and satisfaction in future years.
- Whether you have found a strong purpose for your retirement.
- Whether you have activities outside your work or career which rejuvenate your body, stimulate and enrich your mind and spirit.
- The degree of personal flexibility you bring to any given situation.
- The degree to which you live in the present and your level of satisfaction with your life, as opposed to living in the past.
- The extent to which you are free from the strain of care giving responsibilities for children or aging parents.
- The extent to which you derive satisfaction, intimacy, love and well-being fromyour primary relationship or in your family life.
- Whether you see your own maturation as a time of vitality and potential for personal growth.
- The extent to which you have given thought to replace the functions of working.
Coaching Steps
Get-Acquainted Complimentary Consultation
This is a free session to give you the opportunity to ask questions and get enough relevant information so you can make an informed decision about whether working with me is a good match for you.
I only want to provide my services for clients who will get the most value. I don’t accept a client if I realize that what I provide is not a good match with what you need.
If you decide to work with me, we set up regular meetings over the phone—where we assess where you are now and where you would like to be in the future.
Before we begin, you will take the RSP online, in the comfort of your home. You will then receive (by email) a detailed 25-page evaluation report of your retirement strengths as well as areas of concern which we can discuss at length. You will also receive (by snail mail) the short 120-page book, The New Retirement, which discusses all the aspects of retirement.
In our sessions I will ask you targeted questions and give you special written exercises to elicit your clarity and insights, as well as work with you to create action steps you will take to achieve the goals you have set for yourself. Along the way, we will have milestones to check your progress.
